Comprehensive relocation, inspection and upgrading of a heavy-duty CNC machine tool
At DTi, we have been supporting the heavy industry for years by designing and manufacturing new cnc machine tools as well as modernizing existing equipment. Our mission is to increase the technological potential of production plants by improving the performance, functionality, and safety of their machinery.
From machine tool sourcing to full modernization
Our latest project is a perfect example of our comprehensive approach to customer needs. We began by sourcing a suitable machine tool on the secondary market, followed by its relocation, inspection, retrofitting, and adaptation to current safety standards, culminating in full commissioning at the customer’s facility.
The process included:
Machine relocation – disassembly at the purchase location, packing, safe transport, and reassembly at the customer’s site.
Structural modifications – including lowering the machine stands and adjusting all interacting components, enabling smooth installation in a production hall with limited height.
Inspection and servicing – during which we carried out necessary repairs and adjustments.
Functionality extension – in addition to the two existing heads, we added a new angular head with automatic rotation and 1° positioning and with a torque of 5100 Nm. The head clamping system was also upgraded to ensure full compatibility with the new unit.
- Safety upgrades – the machine was equipped with light curtains, a new guarding system, and other safety components compliant with current regulations.
Final Result
The modernized machine tool now provides the customer with significantly expanded machining capabilities, improved ergonomics, and compliance with current safety standards. The project confirmed our ability to manage complex tasks – from machine tool sourcing through technical modifications, to full commissioning at the production facility.
