Not every dismantling is the same

The Waldrich Siegen is no ordinary machine tool. It is a machine that is extremely rarely seen stripped down to the last bolt – and for good reason. Its scale, precision of engineering, and the complexity of its systems mean that every decision made during dismantling has consequences. Our team went to Germany with a single goal: to safely retrieve this machine in its entirety – and prepare it for decades of future service.

Three weeks of precision

For three weeks, our team systematically disassembled the machine into its individual components. Every single part was inventoried, secured, and prepared for transport according to a strictly defined protocol. There is no room for improvisation here – the decommissioning sequence of the hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems must be planned well in advance and strictly followed.

Final outcome of the dismantling phase:

  • Complete dismantling of all machine systems

  • Full inventory and cataloguing of every component

  • Loading and transport of approx. 300 tonnes of machinery on 15 trucks

  • Zero damage during the logistics operation

Relocation is only half the project

What sets this project apart from a standard relocation is that the move itself is not the final goal. The Waldrich Siegen will not return to service in the same state we found it. At DTI, we are carrying out a modernization combined with relocation – an approach that allows the client to gain not just a relocated machine, but a machine that is superior to the one they knew.

Technical audit and diagnostics Detailed assessment of the condition of every component after transpo.

General overhaul Design changes to enable automatic tool and head changing. Retrofitting with new heads, multipliers, tool and head magazines. Lowering the machine in line with the new user’s requirements. Adapting to current safety standards..

New foundation preparation Foundation works at the customer's site, tailored to the requirements of the modernized machine.

Assembly & commissioning Reassembly, calibration, technological trials, and final acceptance in the new production hall.

Second life of a legend

The Waldrich Siegen will return to work – more modern, more precise, and ready for more decades of operation. This is exactly what extending the lifespan of heavy machinery looks like: not by decommissioning them, but through an investment that pays off many times over.
