GANTRY SYSTEM
Machine tools manufactured by DTI, due to their dimensions and at the same time high accuracy and repeatability of positioning require the use of special solutions. One of them is a gantry system that allows to synchronously control two groups of axes.
At DTI, our GMC series of machine tools uses such a sliding solution gates. These milling machines have a work table connected to the foundation, and the spindle is installed on a movable gate structure. Since it is the milling machine that moves around the workpiece, we have possibility of processing very heavy details.
By using appropriate materials for construction and the use of the system gantry, machine tool with working chamber dimensions of 16m x 3,6m x 2m allows you to make even small details in the workpiece (positioning accuracy within 0.01mm).
In the case of gantry type gantry milling machines, we can install two gates above one working field. This allows us to operate the entire machine very flexibly and effectively.
Advantages of a gantry milling machine:
- with a large working area, the size of the machine is minimized in the XY plane,
- possibility of processing very heavy details thanks to connecting the table directly to the table foundation,
- the weight of the detail does not affect the dynamics of the machine tool,
- a stationary table facilitates the installation of vacuum or hydraulic systems magnetic for fixing the detail,
- easier “sealing” of the working field when using coolant during machining,
- possibility of installing two independent gates over one processing field,
