Before and after – another successful modernization

Another cost-efficient modernization successfully completed by DTI team. Waldrich Coburg planer mill produced in 1979 has been under the extensive modernization process for over 1 year and now it can again ensure the rigidity and precision for the next decades.

We completed several mechanical works on the machine. A new modified spindle with super precision ball bearings was installed. The original rotary speed of the spindle was 600rpm. On a special request of the customer we have modified the spindle to achieve 1500rpm. The ways were scraped and aligned. Also we redesigned the vertical milling unit and with OTT Jakob clamps we enabled the automatic tool clamping and head clamping. A new DTI angular head was installed with 5000Nm torque, positioning every 1 degree. Both vertical and horizontal spindles were adapt to ISO 60 tools. The tool changer was prepared for 10 vertical and 5 horizontal tools of max weight 50kg.

We replaced the whole hydraulic system with new one from Hydac and the lubrication system with new one from Willy Vogel. The hydrostatic system was modified by adding the newest Willy Vogel multi-jet pumps to guarantee very precise and failure-free hydrostatic system.

The machine was upgraded with Siemens CNC control system 840D sl and new Siemens drives including 73kW (S1) spindle motor. The new electrical side was complemented by built in house new electrical cabinet (Rittal) equipped with the air condition units (Pfannenberg), new wiring and new power tracks (Igus). On a special request of the customer the pendant was completely redesigned to a more user friendly model. Heidenhain linear scales were installed in “X”, “Y” and “Z” axes.

The safety parameters were updated to CE standards.

If you are looking for an alternative to a new machine investment we would be pleased to prepare a tailor-made solution for you – no matter if you have the machine to be modernized in your shop or not.
